Tawanchai PK Saenchai says he had to be aggressive and "try something new" to beat Superbon

Reigning and undisputed ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai of Thailand knew he had to switch things up if he wanted to erase all doubt in his latest world title defense.

Fans had grown weary of Tawanchai's inability to score a decisive finish, after back-to-back-to-back lackluster showings against Jo Nattawut and featherweight kickboxing king Superbon.

Tawanchai's aura of invincibility quickly dissipated after both Nattawut and Superbon pushed him to decision victories beginning in October of 2023.

But last weekend at ONE 170, the 25-year-old PK Saenchai Muay Thai gym representative wanted to make a statement, and that he did.

He told veteran broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson in the ring:

"This time, I wanted to try something new, because I know that Superbon has great IQ. He can adapt to any situation. So big thanks to my team, my coach, and my trainer that I made it today, and I’m successful."

Tawanchai delivered the performance of a lifetime, knocking Superbon down three times in the second round of their main event clash to take home a TKO victory and a $50,000 bonus from ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong himself.

Tawanchai PK Saenchai shifts focus to Superbon's kickboxing belt: "My next dream"

25-year-old phenom Tawanchai PK Saenchai has made it very clear that he wants the next crack at Superbon's featherweight kickboxing world title, in hopes of becoming a two-sport world champion.

He told Mitch Chilson:

"It’s been a while since I earned that bonus. Now my dream is complete. My next dream is to get that kickboxing belt on my other shoulder."
