ONE featherweight Muay Thai champ Tawanchai believes he has the edge over Jamal Yusupov despite the challenger's vast experience advantage.

Tawanchai's first title defense is scheduled to take place at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video—and he likes his chances against Yusupov. He told ONE:

“Of course he has extensive fighting experiences, but they’re not superior to mine.”

Russia's Yusupov has immense Muay Thai experience outside of ONE Championship. Since entering the promotion in 2019, the 39-year-old has rattled off three straight wins over Yodsanklai Photirat, Samy Sana, and Jo Nattawut.

Meanwhile, Thailand's phenom is 5-1 inside the circle, including a victory over Petchmorakot to gain the featherweight Muay Thai strap last September.

Tawanchai says he's always looking to improve himself—and to expect to see a better version of him in next fight

The 23-year-old champ certainly has his work cut out for him at ONE Fight Night 7, but he's constantly improving his game. He told ONE that he's always working to evolve and that fans will see the best version of himself against Yusupov:

“Since I joined ONE, I’ve been working hard on myself. I know which parts of me need change. I’ve identified my strengths and what the fans like, then adjusted accordingly. I’d do anything to improve myself, to fill in any hole I may have.”

He continued:

"You’ll definitely see a new and improved version of me, not only this year, but also in the years to come. I’ll keep showing the world the beauty of authentic Muay Thai striking techniques."

The Thai striker possesses an experience advantage in terms of competing at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok. In fact, he was once named the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium fighter of the year and debuted at the venue when he was just 14.

Make sure to tune in to ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 to watch Tawanchai look to defend his featherweight Muay Thai world title against Jamal Yusupov, live from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The event streams on Prime Video in US prime time for subscribers in North America.
