Tawanchai says Superbon has aged like fine wine ahead of world title rematch: "He's gotten tougher and stronger"

Tawanchai PK Saenchai doesn't think Superbon's advancing age will affect his performance when they lock horns in the main event of ONE 170.

If anything, the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion believes very much in the age-old proverb 'With age comes wisdom.'

The 25-year-old striking genius goes toe-to-toe with the ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion for the second time under the promotional spotlight. Their five-round war emanates live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking during a ONE 170 media day, Tawanchai shared:

"I think his physical condition has grown. He's gotten tougher and stronger every year."

Superbon's performances on the global stage last year proves that theory is very much true.

The Bangkok-based star, who turns 35 in August this year, came out on top in his trilogy against Marat Grigorian last year to claim the interim kickboxing gold.

Then, just over a month after his 34th birthday, Superbon ran through 'Smokin' Jo Nattawut in the opening round of their Muay Thai fixture at ONE Friday Fights 81.

If he can exhibit another similar performance come fight night, there could very well be a new two-sport world champion when ONE 170 concludes next Friday.

Superbon cannot afford to underestimate Tawanchai

While momentum may be in his favor, the Superbon Training Camp head honcho cannot afford to downplay Tawanchai's credibility.

The defending king may have looked far from his best in his somewhat controversial win over 'Smokin' Jo, but he's impressed in every other bout in the promotion.

Moreover, in their first fight, the PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym representative appeared to have the trump card in every exchange, though his Thai opponent did finish strong and back him up behind his world-class kicking game.

Should Tawanchai sort out his shortcomings, all signs point to another majestic win for the titleholder on January 24.
