ONE featherweight Muay Thai champ Tawanchai is grateful to compete in a legendary venue like the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
Tawanchai will make his first attempt at defending his belt at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video against Russia's Jamal Yusupov. The two strikers will co-headline the promotion's second global event of the year.
The 23-year-old discussed what it means to fight in such a prestigious arena in an exclusive interview with ONE Championship. He stated:
“It’s the nostalgic feeling. Lumpinee is the most respected stadium, which has accommodated the best Muay Thai fighters. There are so many that become well-known after fighting in this stadium.”

Tawanchai eyes a future in MMA at featherweight
Not only does Tawanchai want to have a long reign atop the featherweight Muay Thai division, but he's eyeing belts in other sports as well. He told ONE:
“My current goal is to win a kickboxing title and also defend my Muay Thai title. I’d like to focus on these two sports for now. I’d also love to win against all the great fighters in the world.”
He added:
“I actually like all martial arts. I want to try everything, but I’d like to focus on Muay Thai and kickboxing for now.”
The P.K.Saenchai Muay Thai Gym affiliate is 4-1 inside the circle with victories over Sean Clancy, Saemapetch Fairtex, Niclas Larsen, and most recently, Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy to win the strap.
The champ still has a pair of fresh faces in the top five aside from Larsen and Yusupov – contenders Jimmy Vienot and Superbon Singha Mawynn.
Expect the Pattaya native to make his kickboxing and possibly even his MMA debut at some point down the line. For now, his full attention is on defending his Muay Thai featherweight world title against Jamal Yusupov.
