For elite Thai striker Tawanchai PK.Saenchai, 2022 was a breakout year.
The 23-year-old produced three wins last year to become the featherweight Muay Thai world champion. As a result, he was given the ONE Muay Thai Fighter of the Year award by ONE Championship.
As he looks to kick-off his 2023 by defending his world championship for the very first time, he is also starting to explore the idea of challenging himself by going outside of his comfort zone.
By competing under the ONE banner, there are plenty of options out there for new and unique challenges, with such a wide array of elite martial artists on the roster.

In an interview with the promotion, Tawanchai was asked about who his dream opponents are inside the ircle. He responded:
“My current goal is to win a kickboxing title and also defend my Muay Thai title. I’d like to focus on these two sports for now. I’d also love to win against all the great fighters in the world.”
Before he can get too carried away with plans for the future, Tawanchai must keep winning. At ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, he will look to defend his featherweight world championship in the co-main event.
Live from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and free to watch for North American viewers on Prime Video, February 24 is shaping up to be unmissable.
Tawanchai can’t wait to step into Lumpinee Boxing Stadium to fight
Tawanchai PK.Saenchai will be once again stepping foot inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on February 24 for the first defense of his featherweight Muay Thai world championship.
Facing Turkey’s Jamal Yusupov at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, the defending world champion is no stranger to the hallowed halls of the legendary stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
As he gets the opportunity to compete at the very highest level in front of his home crowd, February 24 also marks a return to Lumpinee for Tawanchai, who is a former Lumpinee Stadium fighter of the year.
In an interview with ONE Championship, he spoke about the extra excitement that comes with competing inside such a storied home for martial arts:
“It’s the nostalgic feeling. Lumpinee is the most respected stadium, which has accommodated the best Muay Thai fighters. There are so many that become well-known after fighting in this stadium.”
If he is going to be successful, the defending champ cannot let himself get too carried away with the ceremony of it all. Jamal Yusupov has produced an impressive streak under the ONE Championship banner.
His three consecutive wins over Yodsanklai, Samy Sana and Jo Nattawut have solidified his place as the rightful contender for the featherweight world championship.
