Terence Crawford gave a cold reaction to Eddie Hearn's criticism of judges for his recent boxing match. On Aug. 3, Crawford challenged WBA super welterweight champion Israil Madrimov for the title and walked away with a unanimous decision victory. With the win, Crawford became a four-division champion. However, 'Bud' appeared to struggle with Madrimov's unconventional fighting style.
While he seemed the busier fighter with a slight numeric advantage, Madrimov was the more accurate puncher. Crawford turned up the heat in later rounds and crowded the Uzbek fighter with higher output and overwhelming pressure. Many felt that the fight was close but the judges scored the contest 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 in Crawford's favor, crowning him the new WBA super welterweight champion.
Matchroom boxing chairman Eddie Hearn, who promoted Madrimov, criticized the scorecards in the post-fight interview:
"All of the effective punches were coming from Israil Madrimov. Crawford had a good flurry, I think in the last rounds. It was a super close fight. I believe when you come into that ring as a champion, you've got to take the belt off of that champion. Terence Crawford didn't do that. I love him and he is brilliant. But for me, Madrimov deserves to be the champion tonight."

During the post-fight press conference, Crawford was asked to share his thoughts on Eddie Hearn's assessment of the fight. He replied:
"You've got to understand. That's his fighter. He's going to say anything that he can to hype it up. You know that guy lost and so do his team, and so do he."

Crawford was expected to rematch Errol Spence Jr. after defeating him to become the undisputed welterweight champion in 2023. However, the fight could not come to fruition. Spence will challenge Sebastian Fundora for the WBC and WBO super welterweight titles in the coming months. The rematch could become a possibility in the super welterweight division if Spence defeats Fundora.
