Shamil Gasanov was proud of the performance he delivered against Halil Amir. Backed by the momentum of big wins over Oh Ho Taek and Aaron Canarte in his last two outings, 'The Cobra' made it three in a row with a relatively dominant unanimous decision victory over Amir at ONE Fight Night 26 on Prime Video.
The victory moved Gasanov to 4-1 under the ONE Championship banner, 16-1 overall, and solidified his spot as the fourth-ranked contender in the featherweight MMA division.

"It’s a valuable experience. My opponent is a solid knockout artist with decent wrestling skills, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to test myself against someone like him."
What's next for 'The Cobra' remains to be seen, but Gasanov hopes his performance is good enough to eventually land him a shot at the ONE featherweight MMA world title in 2025.

Shamil Gasanov reveals he's already agreed to take another fight
On Friday, Jan. 10, reigning featherweight MMA titleholder Tang Kai will put his gold up for grabs against undefeated Akbar Abdullaev at ONE Fight Night 27.
Shamil Gasanov could very well be next in line to face the winner, but it sounds like 'The Cobra' has another opponent in mind before testing his skill at the very top of the division.
"I'm always ready for a title fight. But I have another fight lined up first, which isn't for the title," Gasanov revealed. "It was offered to me right after this victory, and I agreed. The fight is happening soon, so I'm already back to work. I can't share the details yet, but you'll find out very soon."
