"That should be illegal" - Joe Rogan questions validity of Kamala Harris' hypothetical win over Donald Trump in 2024 elections

Joe Rogan recently dismissed the legitimacy of a hypothetical scenario in which Kamala Harris defeated Donald Trump in the 2024 United States presidential election. Last month, Republican candidate and former president Trump achieved a remarkable comeback, securing a second term in office by defeating Democratic hopeful Harris.

Harris was not initially a contender in the presidential race. However, following incumbent POTUS Joe Biden withdrew from the reelection bid—apparently due to concerns over his age and declining approval ratings—she was officially endorsed as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the election in June.

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring stand-up comedian Duncan Trussell, the famed podcaster, who openly endorsed Trump in the elections, argued that even if Harris had managed to defeat the 45th president, she would not have been legally eligible to assume the presidency.

Rogan pointed out that Harris never secured a victory in the Democratic primaries, as she did not garner support from her own party members—a situation he suggested might have been legally questionable:

"Even if you are sad that Trump won and you wish Kamala Harris had won, if she did win, it would be the first time that anybody won without winning a primary, and that's kind of crazy. It's not a good precedent to set; it's not good to let people weasel around the system we have in place. By having a vice president and then immediately appointing them as the Democratic candidate, that's kind of illegal."

He added:

"How about let me say this: that should be illegal. You should have to have a vote from the people to decide who their Democratic elected person is going to be to run for president. That's the whole deal."

When Joe Rogan claimed Kamala Harris unsettled Donald Trump in their first debate

During an episode of his podcast in September, Joe Rogan analyzed the first 2024 presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris alongside stand-up comedian Tom Segura.

Rogan said that while Trump had standout moments, it was Harris who appeared more composed and well-prepared throughout the debate:

"The difference in that debate was not about who’s going to have better policies or who’s going to be better for the country. The difference in the debate, in my opinion, was who was better prepared. She was way better prepared, and even when it came to answering tough questions, instead of answering, she would just say things that she believed were sure and they sounded really good. That’s the sound bite."
