British Muay Thai and kickboxing standout Jonathan Haggerty enjoys competing on as many ONE Championship cards as possible in a year. Still, he had to acknowledge that athletes from Thailand are a whole different breed of fighters.
When asked for his thoughts on fighting multiple times in a year on the Winners Talking Podcast, the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion admitted that his Thai peers have him beat in that regard:
"Yeah, but I mean, if you look at the Thais, they have 10 fights [outside of ONE]. Yeah, you look at the stadiums, they have 40 fights like in a year. That's not even a joke. They've got that. That's why they end up with like 400 fights or something. That's why they retire so early as well because they've had their fights, the body's tired. That's why you have to be smart with it."

The most fights that 'The General' has had in a year under the ONE banner happened in his 2019 debut, where he competed thrice. That year was highlighted by him winning the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship from then-reigning Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in May.
Jonathan Haggerty cares little about being famous
Some combat sports athletes make it their career goal to become a household name, but Jonathan Haggerty is more focused on adding to his achievements.
In the same interview on the Winners Talking Podcast, the former ONE flyweight and bantamweight Muay Thai world champion declared:
"I'm not in it to be recognized. But it's nice at the same time, you know? All the hard work you put in, it's nice to be noticed, and see what you're doing, and the hard work you're putting in. We're not a superstar over here yet, but we're getting there slowly, for sure."
