Fourth-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA contender and former world title challenger 'Lightning' Reece McLaren of Australia is gearing up to take on one of the most dangerous opponents he has ever faced.
Next week, the 33-year-old Gold Coast native will welcome ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks to the flyweight MMA division when the two do battle for a potential chance to compete for the vacant divisional throne.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, McLaren says he should be given credit for taking on such a massive challenge on short notice.

The CMBT Training Centre product stated:
"Yeah, I think that's the fight that makes sense. Well, I mean, who else is fighting a world champion on short notice?"
If McLaren can defeat Brooks, he may well go on to face former ONE flyweight MMA world champion 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes, who is likely to fight for the belt next.
Of course, beating Brooks is certainly no easy task. 'The Monkey God' has torn through the competition in ONE Championship, establishing his dominance at strawweight, which is why he is now making the move to flyweight in a bid to become a two-division world champion.
It all comes to a head next week when McLaren and Brooks meet in the ONE Championship ring.
