Shavkat Rakhmonov recently responded to the UFC's DM about his New Year's goals with a one-word reply. 'Nomad' exudes an air of stoicism, and while a possible language barrier might contribute to this impression, he appears to prefer letting his actions speak for themselves.

Rakhmonov's placid nature appears to extend even to his text conversations, as evidenced by his succinct "No" reply to the UFC's Instagram DM inquiring about his non-fight-related resolutions for 2025.

'Nomad' is coming off a gritty unanimous decision victory over Ian Machado Garry in the co-main event of UFC 310 last month. While Rakhmonov successfully maintained his undefeated record, his perfect finish streak was finally broken. He now holds a 7-0 record in the UFC.

Rakhmonov was originally scheduled to face reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad at UFC 310. However, the matchup was called off after Muhammad was forced to withdraw due to a bone infection just weeks before the fight.

Chase Hooper questions Shavkat Rakhmonov's skillset despite victory over Ian Machado Garry

While Shavkat Rakhmonov secured a victory over the previously undefeated Ian Machado Garry at UFC 310, he found himself in challenging situations throughout the fight, including barely avoiding a deep rear-naked choke in the last round.

Rakhmonov's apparent weaknesses in grappling have led Chase Hooper to question the depth of his skillset. During an interview with Home of Fight last month, Hooper insisted that 'Nomad' should first face a top-tier grappler in the division to truly evaluate the scope of his skills:

"We just have never seen him fight a grappler in the UFC, at least not a high-level one, so I guess I more just want to see that. You know, there's so much hype behind him right now that I want to see if that's founded. He's undefeated, but let's see him against a good wrestler because there are so many of those at 170 [pounds]. Let's see him against Sean Brady, or let's see him against [Kamaru] Usman before just giving him the shot at the belt."
