Fans have reacted after Alex Pereira teased himself as a replacement for the UFC 310 main event.
On Dec. 7, Belal Muhammad was supposed to defend his welterweight title for the first time against Shavkat Rakhmonov. Unfortunately, Muhammad suffered an infection in his foot, forcing him to pull out of the matchup and leave the UFC 310 pay-per-view without a main event.
Fans immediately called for Pereira, as he previously saved the UFC 303 main event when Conor McGregor pulled out. Rumors began spreading about 'Poatan' being contacted by the UFC, which were strengthened when he posted the following comment on an Instagram post about Muhammad's injury:

Alex Pereira last fought on Oct. 5, defending his light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307. The 37-year-old might be interested in returning on Dec. 7, but the question is, who would he defend his throne against?
Who could Alex Pereira potentially fight at UFC 310?
Before fighting Khalil Rountree, Magomed Ankalaev seemed the clear option for Alex Pereira's next light heavyweight title defense. Instead, the UFC went with 'The War Horse' at UFC 307, which was a surprise within the MMA community.
Ankalaev last fought on Oct. 26, when faced Aleksandar Rakic on the UFC 308 pay-per-view main card. The Russian light heavyweight passed the test, defeating Rakic via unanimous decision.
With that in mind, Ankalaev would appear to be the most likely UFC 310 opponent for Pereira, assuming he's healthy enough for the quick turnaround. It's also unclear if the 32-year-old would be willing to take the risk of fighting 'Poatan' on relatively short notice.
Pereira is likely the only champion willing to take the risk of being the UFC 310 replacement, which he's shown before. Because of that, the promotion might look for another opponent if Ankalaev isn't ready, making former titleholder Jamahal Hill a possible candidate to avenge his defeat against 'Poatan'.
