Dan Hooker ate such an emphatic strike from Jalin Turner during their fight that it drew references to the renowned durability of Marvin Vettori. In this MMA throwback, we take a look at a lightweight matchup from July 2023 when Turner and Hooker were locked into the cage together.
While Hooker would garner the victory by way of a split decision in their UFC 290 bout, he did not get out of the fire without receiving some burns. In a r/ufc post, the footage was shown of Turner landing a left head kick that looked like it would knock out most humans on planet Earth but Hooker ate it without incident and kept fighting en route to victory.
Reddit users voiced their thoughts on the crisp strike and were taken aback by the chin of 'The Hangman' as comments quickly amassed within the online thread.

"No human with a normal sized head and neck should be able to take that hit. That was Vetorri level chin."

"They said it sounded like a bat hit"

Dan Hooker and his next octagon assignment
Dan Hooker readies for his first fight of the calendar year and he will enter mixed martial arts competition for the first time in over a year. While he was supposed to fight King Green, Hooker was forced to pull out due to an arm injury from their UFC Fight Night bout last December.
The 34-year-old is all healed up and ready to fight this coming weekend and Hooker will take on another member of the 155-pound rankings hierarchy in the UFC. Jalin Turner is currently ranked number 14 and the number 11-ranked Hooker now clashes with the number five lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot.
This transpires on the pay-per-view main card of UFC 305 on Aug. 17 and illustrates the oft-used adage that the promotion's lightweight division is truly a shark tank.
The native of New Zealand looks to extend his winning streak inside the cage to three straight while Gamrot aims to expand his run of consecutive victories to four on Saturday night.
The event is headlined by Hooker's compatriot at City Kickboxing, Israel Adesanya who looks to become a three-time middleweight champion in the organization against the reigning king of UFC's 185-pound division Dricus du Plessis.
