Jon Jones made his return to the octagon earlier this month as he defended his heavyweight title for the first time, defeating Stipe Miocic via third-round TKO at UFC 309. While fans have clamored for Jones to face Tom Aspinall next, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson believes Miocic presented a tougher challenge for 'Bones'.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Jackson, who challenged Jones for the light heavyweight title at UFC 135, said:

"I feel like Jon Jones' last performance, I don't even think any heavyweight on the planet could beat Jon Jones because he solidifies himself as one of the greatest fighters on the planet and no disrespect to Aspinall - I think Aspinall is a great fighter, I'm a fan of his as well - but I figured Stipe would be a tougher challenge than Aspinall."

"The CTE goes so hard"

@omegacloud believes the former UFC champion hasn't watched Aspinall or Miocic fight recently:

@Ajsrisen noted that Aspinall hasn't faced an opponent at Jones' level:

"Aspinall has never faced 1/10th of the greatness that is Jon Jones"

@TommyTwoGunss compared Aspinall to former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin:

"Shane Carwin had a much better highlight reel and quality of opponents at the time he won the interim and looked like a true world beater. 9 straight KOs in under 1 minute. And Carwin never became undisputed."

@wrldw4r predicted that the two will coach opposing sides on 'The Ultimate Fighter':

"Team Jones vs. Team Aspinall for TUF 33, calling it now."

Francis Ngannou backs Jon Jones in Tom Aspinall negotiations

Jon Jones has shared that he has a magic number in mind to consider his mixed martial arts career. Francis Ngannou recently weighed in on the ongoing negotiations between 'Bones' and the UFC, claiming that the heavyweight champion doesn't need a potential bout with Tom Aspinall.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, the former UFC heavyweight champion and inaugural PFL Super Fights heavyweight champion claimed:

"I think there's a negotiation situation here that's involved that we don't know all the ups and downs. We all know the situation that they use that in the negotiation to say, 'Oh no, he doesn't want to fight this guy, he's scared.' And that's how the machine works. He's in the position to claim what he wants as he said. He said, 'Aspinall needs that fight, I don't need it.' And when you look at it, it's pretty much true."

Ngannou added that Jones has nothing to gain from the matchup, aside from money. He claimed that Aspinall, on the other hand, has everything to gain by sharing the octagon with 'Bones'.
