“The most decorated girl in our weight class” - Danielle Kelly says dethroning Mayssa Bastos will prove her greatness

A win over Mayssa Bastos won't just make Danielle Kelly a two-time ONE submission grappling world champion — it'll also make her one of the most decorated BJJ specialists in the sport.

After suffering a stunning upset against the nine-time IBJJF world champion in August, Kelly is ready to run it back with Bastos, challenging the new ONE atomweight submission grappling world titleholder at ONE Fight Night 26 on Friday, Dec. 6.

Emanating from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Bastos vs. Kelly 2 will feature as part of another loaded fight card on Amazon Prime Video headlined by the return of reigning two-division king Christian Lee.

Looking ahead to her rematch with Bastos, Kelly sees their bout as something more than just an opportunity to win back the 26 pounds of gold she once wrapped around her waist.

"She is the most decorated girl in our weight class and below," Kelly told ONE in a recent interview. "So, beating her would definitely put me up there.”

Though Mayssa Bastos left ONE Fight Night 24 with a unanimous decision victory over Danielle Kelly, plenty of fans strongly disagreed with the decision.

Even Kelly admitted to feeling as though she did enough to defeat Bastos the first time around, telling the promotion:

“I know I can beat her. Many people thought I beat her, not just my fans, it’s just the viewers that were watching the match."

Kelly also admits that the pressure of their first encounter may have gotten the best of her. Now knowing what it feels like to lose on martial arts' biggest global stage, the Silver Fox BJJ star is feeling zero pressure ahead of their sequel scrap.

“This time around, I don’t feel any pressure. I don’t feel any stress this time, which is pretty scary just because you’re kind of going out there, and you’re having this mindset of not having anything to lose. I’m just gonna go after her this time.”

Will Kelly even the series with the Brazilian submission specialist and reclaim the ONE atomweight submission grappling crown, or will Bastos go two-up on Kelly and squash any lingering doubts surrounding their first meeting?
