"The girls she fought were just lower class than her" - Alyona Rassohyna unimpressed by Denice Zamboanga's resume

Fourth-ranked ONE women's atomweight MMA competitor Alyona Rassohyna took a swipe at division mainstay Denice Zamboanga's body of work ahead of their battle over the interim 115-pound MMA crown at ONE Fight Night 27 on Friday, Jan. 10.

The Ukrainian grappler bared her honest thoughts about Zamboanga's previous outings in an interview with the promotion, stating:

"I can't say anything about her punching technique because the girls she fought were just lower class than her. That's why there was such an explicit picture of her dominating the punches. I think that if the girls were technically prepared a little bit more, there would be a different picture in terms of fights."

Zamboanga, the second-ranked ONE women's atomweight MMA athlete, tends to rely on her striking advantage to propel her to victory, which played a crucial role in her wins over Lin Heqin in December 2022 and Noelle Grandejan this past June.

But with how much pride Rassohyna takes in scouting her opponents, the Yarost Gym product recently hinted that they have developed a strategy to negate Zamboanga's vicious stand-up game.

Alyona Rassohyna has heard everything critics have said about her since her promotional debut in February 2021. The 34-year-old plans to use their negativity as motivation against Denice Zamboanga.

During the pre-fight interviews for ONE Fight Night 27, Rassohyna said:

"If I had even a little bit of doubt in my abilities or I wasn't ready, let's say, after giving birth, I would have given this opportunity to other girls. But because I'm confident in my abilities, I'm going to work my hardest."

ONE Fight Night 27 will emanate from the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
