With an impressive MMA record of 35-9, Lineker has spent his entire career at the very top of the ladder competing against the best in the world. Since making his professional MMA debut nearly 15 years ago, he's earned half of his wins by way of knockout stoppage.
In 2022, 'Hands of Stone' stopped the record-setting world championship reign of Bibiano Fernandes with a second-round knockout to crown himself the ONE bantamweight world champion.
At ONE on Prime Video 3, Lineker faced dangerous Brazilian striker Fabricio 'Wonder Boy' Andrade. 'Hands of Stone' lost his throne on the scale as he struggled to make the bantamweight limit.
The main event fight was a great back-and-forth battle but ended with an unfortunate accidental foul. Due to an inadvertent groin strike which Lineker could not recover from, the bout was officially declared a no-contest.
In the headlining bout of ONE on Prime Video 7 on February 10, the ONE bantamweight world title will be on the line as Lineker and 'Wonder Boy' will go to war once again.
Fabricio Andrade discusses the first John Lineker fight
Fabricio Andrade has reflected on his first match against John Lineker and has some ideas that he could use going into their second fight.
'Wonder Boy' feels that he was winning the fight against 'Hands of Stone' and believes viewers can see it in Lineker's body language. In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Andrade explained:
“He was tired, man. I saw his corner and everybody was desperate, you know. They were like bringing him up because they knew he was getting knocked out. I could see that they were desperate, you know, and he was like all blood on his face, he was breathing heavy, he was scared. I knew the fire was gone.”
Fabricio Andrade knew his strikes were having an effect on John Lineker:
“I started to connect with my cross, high kicks, something more, because he was not coming because he was scared of the knee and stuff.”
