Former women's strawweight Muay Thai world title challenger Jackie Buntan's quest for gold continues in her foray into kickboxing.
In the first of three world championship fights at ONE 169: Malykhin vs Reug Reug on Nov. 8, the Filipina-American will seek to claim the inaugural women's strawweight kickboxing belt.
To realize her lifelong dream, Buntan must get past one of the most decorated female strikers of all time, Anissa Meksen, in a five-round war at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Jackie Buntan is truly one of the fastest-rising stars in the promotion after a blistering 6-1 start against elite competition.
Despite strictly competing under Muay Thai rules, the 27-year-old is quite confident that her striking skills should translate seamlessly into a whole different sport.
The Boxing Works affiliate said in an exclusive interview with ONE Championship:
"Yeah, the no clinch and no elbow, the transition for that was fine. You know, my strengths come in a lot of my punches and my kicks, punches especially. So, the transition was quite smooth."
To be fair, Buntan does have a punch-heavy arsenal, mixed with strong kicks to the body. Needless to say, the Muay Thai star shouldn't have much of an adjustment period in the bigger gloves of kickboxing.

In order to send Meksen to her second consecutive defeat, Jackie Buntan paid close attention to her last match against Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom.
The undisputed atomweight kickboxing world champion was able to neutralize 'C18's speed and precision using brilliant distance management to land her lightning-fast combinations.
It appears that Buntan will look to employ a similar tactic against the Alegrian-French star.
"I saw a lot of strengths on Phetjeeja’s end and I saw a lot of weaknesses on Anissa’s end," Buntan told Sportkseeda MMA.
"I also have an idea of how Anissa moves, kind of her thought process behind her movement."
