Terence Crawford is preparing to take on WBA champion Israil Madrimov on Aug. 2 in Los Angeles at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The American is sparing no effort to put on a solid showcase and was recently spotted training with American boxing royalty in preparation for the fight.

Crawford was seen training with Andre Ward, a former undefeated boxer who held multiple world championships in two weight classes. The sparring work must have been a deliberate strategy to be completely ready for a hard-hitting orthodox fighter like Madrimov.

Needless to say, the video of the pair engaging in light footwork drills caught the attention of boxing fans. They were delighted to see two of the greatest American boxers of the modern generation in one frame and took to X to react to the video. Muhammad Ali's grandson and professional boxer Nico Ali Walsh wrote:

Meanwhile, some fans wrote:

"The two best Americans since Floyd"
"This is why Terence is P4P, he has masters of the sport in his gym and he gives them their flowers"
"Some knowledge in that ring."
"The HIGHEST level of boxing in the whole world is right here in this video."

The upcoming clash between Crawford and Madrimov will be the first American event financially supported by Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh. Crawford is coming off one of his career-defining moments with a spectacular ninth-round TKO victory over Errol Spence Jr. Meanwhile, his opponent Madrimov, recently won the vacant WBA super-welterweight title with a TKO victory over Magomed Kurbanov earlier this year.

Eddie Hearn throws weight behind Israil Madrimov’s chances against Terence Crawford

Chairman of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn is set to promote the upcoming boxing encounter between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov.

While Madrimov doesn't boast the professional experience that his American counterpart does, he has won a silver medal in the welterweight division at the 2014 Asian Games and gold in the middleweight division at the 2018 edition.

While some fans are dismissing his chances against Crawford, Hearn has backed the chances of the Russian with conviction. Speaking with DAZN’s Chris Mannix, he said:

"He’s the underdog but Madrimov’s a quality fighter. Great movement, he’s got a lot of power. “Bud” was world champion at 135, undisputed at ’40, undisputed at ’47 – sooner or later you move up too far." [H/t: Boxing News Magazine]

He added:

"Madrimov can crack and don’t get me wrong he’s a big underdog but everybody’s looking past Israil Madrimov… Terence Crawford, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh… they’ve all got these other plans for next year. Don’t sleep on Israil Madrimov. Uzbek power coming to one of the biggest nights in American boxing for a long time.”
