"The UFC 303 of fight nights" - Fans react as UFC Denver card loses fight due to injury

UFC Denver has taken yet another hit in terms of fights falling out and fans are really noticing the structural integrity of this Summer card.

Sportsnet journalist Aaron Bronsteter tweeted out the news of an intriguing welterweight matchup falling out and posted it on his personal X account. The tweet read:

"Due to injury the bout between Mike Malott and Gilbert Urbina on the UFC Fight Night card in Denver on July 13 has been removed, per sources."

Several combat sports fans on X commented on this scrapped bout and yet another fight falling out for this looming UFC Denver card in the coming weeks.

UFC Denver and other fights that have fallen off

This event has had almost a complete handful of bouts fall through as we're close to just a couple of weeks out from the card transpiring.

The initially targeted main event was one notable matchup that fell out as Maycee Barber will no longer be taking on Rose Namajunas in the headline attraction. Barber vs. Namajunas was to feature the number four and number six contenders at flyweight clashing but alas it won't happen at least on this targeted date.

There have been rumblings that Tracy Cortez will fill Barber's vacant spot against the former multi-time UFC strawweight champion but nothing has been officially confirmed as of this writing.

Drew Dober vs. Mike Davis was also another bout that fell off of this UFC Denver card. Davis brutally tore his bicep and shared the footage that captured the injury in real time to the horror of MMA fans worldwide. This injury understandably disintegrated this fight in the near future.

Also, Nazim Sadykhov vs. Chris Duncan was to take place in mid-July but was scrapped due to a reported staph infection that the latter combatant was dealing with. Sadykhov will now reportedly face Marquel Mederos since the Duncan matchup fell by the wayside.

Some are particularly bummed out about this UFC Denver card being so rife with cancellations because the card is transpiring where the company was born. UFC 1 emanated from McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado on Nov. 12, 1993, which saw Royce Gracie win a one-night tournament and the kickoff of the sport domestically, by proxy.
