“Their movements mirrored each other” – Buakaw raves about Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Superbon’s similar skillsets in epic five-round clash

Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek was intrigued by the similarities between Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Superbon Singha Mawynn during their super-fight.

On December 22, 2023, ONE Championship ended its calendar year with a stacked event, ONE Friday Fights 46, that featured three world title fights. In the main event, Tawanchai defended his ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title against former ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon.

The Thai superstars went to war for five rounds, and both found success throughout the fight. Once the dust settled, Tawanchai emerged victorious by unanimous decision to retain his featherweight Muay Thai throne.

Buakaw watched the entire Muay Thai spectacle and shared a video on his YouTube channel where he talked about the action-packed matchup. The living legend had this to say about the similarities between Tawanchai and Superbon:

“In the first round, they chose to engage. They had opposite guards but fought from the same stance. That meant that their movements mirrored each other.”

Tawanchai PK Saenchai fought four times in 2023, two in kickboxing and two in Muay Thai, and won every time, including two inside the distance. As a result, he has become one of the biggest superstars on the ONE roster, leading to several potential super-fights moving forward.

Two potential options for Tawanchai’s next fight could be a featherweight Muay Thai world title defense rematch against Jo Nattawut or a super-fight against ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Chingiz Allazov.

Meanwhile, Superbon Singha Mawynn had an up-and-down calendar year. The former ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion lost against Allazov and Tawanchai but secured the Kickboxing Knockout of the Year due to his highlight-reel finish against Tayfun Ozcan.
