Theo Von recently opened up about Donald Trump appearing on his podcast and discussed why he invited him. The comedian has gained popularity with his podcast featuring guests from various backgrounds and told Joe Rogan that he wanted to get to know the President-elect.
The business mogul-turned-U.S. President is a polarizing figure, and so it's understandable why the comedian might have been slightly hesitant due to the potential backlash he could have faced.
The same could also be said about Rogan, who was against having Trump on as a guest in the past. But, he changed his stance prior to the election and attempted to have Kamala Harris appear as well.
During his latest appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), Von explained why he wanted to have the Republican Presidential nominee on his podcast, This Past Weekend. The 44-year-old mentioned that Trump's brother passing away due to alcohol addiction was something that resonated with him and wanted to learn more about him on a personal level:

"I just want to be able to have a chance to talk to this guy...I knew that [Donald] Trump's brother suffered from addiction...And I looked into it and it's like, okay...his brother died of addiction. So I was like, 'Well, that's interesting to me'. And I wonder if there's more to Donald Trump, like, is there more of a way to talk with him about something that...try to get more of an emotional well to him than it seems like that's in the public." Theo Von expresses his gratitude to Joe Rogan
In addition to explaining why he wanted to interview Donald Trump, Theo Von expressed his gratitude to Joe Rogan for his kindness toward him.
During the aforementioned episode, Von mentioned that he was grateful that Rogan would compliment him on his podcast episodes and improvement as a podcast host:
"Thanks for being inspiring and sometimes...I would do a podcast episode and you would just reach out and say, 'Hey, man, I like that episode', and it just meant a lot. I just want to let you know that." [3:20:38]
