Former ONE strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks believes there's nothing more thrilling in the world than competing in MMA.

The American superstar is en route to a blockbuster matchup with fellow strawweight contender, Gustavo 'El Gladiador' Balart at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video. With that said, he's just wrapping up another intensive fight camp before heading to Bangkok's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on August 2.

For Brooks, the adrenaline rush that he feels when standing face-to-face with an opponent, is an experience like no other. You basically revert to pure animal instinct, where nothing outside the ring matters anymore, except you and your rival.

"Going in there, there's no emotions," Brooks told Fightwave. "There's nothing that can counterplay the feeling of when you're actually in there feeling another person's energy that wants to kill you."

Former strawweight king Jarred Brooks continues to be a menace with or without the belt wrapped around his waist.

Even though he came out on the losing end against current divisional champion Joshua Pacio due to an illegal spike to the head, 'The Monkey God' is the people's champion at heart.

Next month, he will utilize his best strengths against Balart to make sure that his name stays among the elites with an interim strawweight world title added to his collection.

ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna bring out the wrestling" - Jarred Brooks says he isn't going to underestimate Gustavo Balart's skills due to his uncommon low height

Jarred Brooks says he isn't going to hold back the punches against Gustavo Balart just because he's uncommonly small for a strawweight.

Gustavo Balart is the shortest-ranked contender in the division, standing at 4 ft 11 and weighing at 55.8 kg. Despite being grilled for his height, Balart has proven time and time again that it's not an impediment in this sport.

After all, he's racked up four consecutive victories to earn a shot at the interim world title - a fact that Jarred Brooks seriously acknowledges.

Speaking to ONE, the American superstar shared his thoughts about his future rival and said:

"Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna bring out the wrestling and everything like that, but just because Gustavo is 4-foot-11, it doesn't mean that guy isn't a G."
