Joe Rogan's latest Netflix special appears to have elicited backlash from certain quarters of the socio-political realm. Rogan's previous Netflix specials are 'Triggered' (2016) and 'Strange Times' (2018). His third and most recent is 'Burn the Boats' (Aug. 3, 2024), which some feel features transphobic content.

'Burn the Boats' featured Rogan addressing various topics, including the COVID-19 global pandemic, vaccines, former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, the Pizzagate theory, and Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs).

The stand-up comedy special, filmed at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas, USA, witnessed Rogan acknowledge the condemnation he's faced for supposedly spreading misinformation concerning COVID-19 and vaccines. The veteran UFC color commentator also shot down the conspiracy theory that Michelle Obama was a man.

Alluding to his podcast's mammoth reach, he lightheartedly jibed at those who get their vaccine-related news from him and his platform.

Moreover, Rogan joked about the transgender community and pregnant men. He signaled that transgender acceptance in American culture has been extremely fast. He notably suggested that people who are cisgender males (assigned male at birth) have lately been allowed to enter women's locker rooms and washrooms in the U.S., provided they identify as women.

Rogan's Netflix special has captured the attention of the combat sports community and beyond. Multiple X users lambasted him, alleging that he was regurgitating far-right talking points. One commenter deemed Rogan a transphobe and was disappointed with Netflix giving him a platform. An X user wrote:

"God these perverts are weird. Why are they so obsessed with what genitals people have? Why do they make other people junk their entire personality? I just don't get it."

Alternatively, some netizens lent support to him. One fan notably asserted "he's right", while another highlighted that they agreed with the MMA personality.

Meanwhile, some observers went as far as labeling Rogan a "bigot" and alleging that people like him were perpetuating transphobia and inciting attacks against the transgender community in America.

Another fan tweeted:

Joe Rogan's Netflix special comes amid his comments on the Imane Khelif gender controversy

On episode 161 of the JRE MMA Show, Joe Rogan hosted UFC light heavyweight contender Khalil Rountree Jr. and weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.

Per the International Boxing Association (IBA), Khelif failed her gender eligibility test in 2023. She was barred from the women's world boxing championships just before her gold medal bout last year. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) permitted her to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Rogan referenced the failed IBA test and opined that Khelif was transgender. The 56-year-old made an allusion to Khelif allegedly having XY chromosomes, in which case he feels the boxer is "a man."

The American podcast mogul explained that it's horrible to misgender someone. Regardless, Rogan reiterated his stance that permitting biological males to compete against biological females in combat sports is a perilous proposition.
