Nico Carrillo and trainer JP Gallacher have run roughshod in ONE Championship, and the pair promised a new reign atop the bantamweight Muay Thai division.
The Scottish knockout machine will challenge Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at the stacked ONE 170 card on Jan. 24, 2025, at Impact Arena.
Taking to Instagram, Carrillo promised to dethrone Superlek under the guidance of his trusted coach Gallacher.

"They can't stop this. Trust me. New bantamweight [Muay Thai] king 🤴 #valiant1s"
Gallacher has been the main voice in Carrillo's corner during the 26-year-old's unstoppable run in ONE Championship.
That partnership saw Carrillo produce a perfect 4-0 record in the promotion, with all four of his wins coming via knockout.
Carrilo tore through the opposition and sent Furkan Karabag, Muangthai PK Saenchai, former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama, and Saemapetch Fairtex to the shadow realm.
'King of the North' now stands at the precipice of greatness when he challenges Superlek for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title in Bangkok.
While Carrillo looked indomitable in his first four fights in ONE Championship, he could face a different test when he challenges Superlek for the gold.
Superlek, who also holds the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title, is on an impressive 11-fight winning streak and is the only person in ONE Championship to beat Rodtang Jitmuangnon in Muay Thai.
Nico Carrillo says it would be stupid to underestimate Superlek ahead of world title showdown
Nico Carrillo is unapologetically confident heading into his world title challenge against Superlek Kiatmoo9, but he's also smart in how he approaches the biggest fight of his career.
In an interview on the Leather'd Podcast, Carrillo said he won't overlook Superlek despite his strong belief that he would leave Bangkok as the new ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion:
"I already practiced this mindset of when I have it that it won't be like that once I have it. I'll be more hardworking, and I'll be more determined, and so on and so on. So I already look into the future and know that."
