Fighters fight, and flyweight “Mini T” Danial Williams considers himself lucky that under ONE Championship lower weight class division athletes like him get to do exactly that.
Williams joined the promotion two years ago and has already figured in five matches, four of which all taking place in 2022.
It is something that the Australian fighter is very thankful for. Danial Williams told ONE Championship in an interview:
“They put more effort into the promotion. They give us good fights, we’re active. There’s always a strawweight or a flyweight on the card, compared to some other promotions.”

But Williams went on to say that it is not at all surprising, considering the type of competition present in the lower weight classes in the Singapore-based promotion and in Asia in general.
He said:
“We started in Asia, and Asia is shorter in general, so I guess there’s a lot of competition over here in those divisions. When the guys make this promotion, they’ve had to run through a lot of competition.”
Adding:
“So I think the level of our smaller guys over here is better. Of course, we got DJ (Demetrious Johnson) over here as well. I think he’s the GOAT. So I think the level of competition is quite strong over here in the East.”
Danial Williams made his ONE promotional debut in April 2021 at ONE on TNT 1 in a Muay Thai clash with reigning world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon where he lost by unanimous decision.
In 2022, he competed in mixed martial arts in the strawweight division and went 3-1 – his only loss coming at the hands of Filipino Jeremy Miado in October by way of third-round technical knockout (punches).
Danial Williams says he’s right on track with his MMA career
Two years into his mixed martial arts career with ONE Championship, Danial Williams said he is right on track to where he wants to be.
And in 2023, 'Mini T' is looking to keep it going and establish himself firmer in the sport.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Danial Williams said:
“The goal was to get as many fights as I could. Like I said, I always had a three-year plan coming into ONE. Got two years now. My three-year plan was the MMA title and in between was a striking title. I think everything is still going to plan. I’m confident with how everything has gone. Didn’t finish the year like I planned, but I learned from it as well.”
Williams looks to get back on the winning track after absorbing a third-round technical knockout defeat (punches) against Filipino strawweight Jeremy Miado at ONE on Prime Video 3 in Malaysia in October.
