Second-ranked Denice Zamboanga is thankful for the added time she's had to tune up for her interim ONE atomweight MMA world title tilt. 'The Menace' was booked to face Ukrainian veteran Alyona Rassohyna this past October but a hamstring injury forced her to pull out of the contest.

They will now do battle at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10. And despite the extended time on the sidelines, Denice Zamboanga is happy that she has more time to prepare for the test that awaits her inside Bangkok's legendary Lumpinee Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to The MMA Superfan, the 27-year-old shared:

"Actually, even before I got injured, my team and I have studied her moves and how we will defend against the techniques she uses in fights. So this delay really helped me a lot."

'The Menace' was last in action at ONE 167, where a last-minute hiccup forced her to miss another world title fixture.

That evening, Zamboanga was supposed to go toe-to-toe with former longtime stablemate and divisional queen Stamp Fairtex for her 26 pounds of gold. The three-sport queen withdrew from the fight after suffering a serious knee injury deep into her camp.

As a result, 'The Menace' went on to beat surging French-Thai star Noelle Grandjean via unanimous decision inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai'.

Denice Zamboanga expects to be put through the wringer against Alyona Rassohyna

While she hopes to become her country's first-ever female MMA world champion, Denice Zamboanga refuses to think she will have one hand on the strap that will be on offer at ONE Fight Night 27.

'The Menace' is focused on perfecting her strategy and the win before dreaming of the one chance that she has been waiting for throughout her career. In the same interview, she continued:

"I can see from her fight against Stamp that she’s really aggressive and unpredictable, especially her submissions," Zamboaga said. "So I think it will be a big challenge, and it won’t be an easy fight for me."

ONE Fight Night 27 will be available on Amazon Prime Video for active subscribers in the United States and Canada.
