In September last year, Ian Machado Garry didn't just raise a lot of eyebrows with his take on the Israel Adesanya vs Sean Strickland fight, he pretty much infuriated nearly the entire MMA world.
In a guest appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Garry made it known how much of an Adesanya fanboy he is by discrediting Strickland's title-winning performance.
Garry said (Via MMAFighting on YouTube):

"I feel like Izzy [Adesanya] lost the fight more than Sean Strickland won the fight. I feel like there was a certain point in that fight where I feel like Izzy was afraid to lose more than he wanted to win...I feel like if you run that fight back, there's no way Sean Strickland gets his hand raised again."
It gets more interesting from there. Ian Machado Garry went on to say that Sean Strickland's performance that night was "nothing elite," even though the American's fundamentals pretty much negated Adesanya's game throughout.
Around the same time, a Reddit channel dedicated to UFC news reposted a thread on Garry's controversial claims:
A Reddit user who has since deleted their account said:
"This guy reminds me of MMA guru"
Meanwhile, Redditor fried_the_lightning said:
"Uh, he walked down an elite kickboxing champion for five rounds and took no damage at all while beating him up to win the championship."

Ian Machado Garry to put undefeated record on the line against fellow unbeaten fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov
At UFC 310 on December 7, Ian Machado Garry will face fellow undefeated welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov. This highly anticipated bout was put together on the heels of Rakhmonov's original opponent, UFC welterweight champ Belal Muhammad, pulling out of their title fight due to injury.
Garry, who was scheduled to face Joaquin Buckley on December 14 at UFC on ESPN 63, was called in to replace Muhammad. Buckley then received a new opponent in former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington.
As for Rakhmonov, the Kazakh warrior might be Garry's most dangerous opponent inside the octagon. 'Nomad' has a 100% finishing rate, with eight knockouts and 10 submissions. He holds the longest finishing streak in UFC welterweight history with six. Many fans, pundits and fellow fighters believe that the undefeated Kazakh is bound to wear gold in the future.
