Fans recently reacted after a video of Alex Pereira surfaced on social media showing the light heavyweight champion weighing himself after rehydrating from the UFC 303 weigh-ins. They were shocked at how quickly he was able to get his weight back up so quickly, especially considering he cuts weight to make 205-pounds.

The Brazilian had been known to cut a significant amount of weight when he competed at middleweight, which resulted in him being much larger than his opponent on fight night. 'Poatan's has benefited from a move up to 205 pounds as his weight cut isn't as difficult as it was to make 185 pounds and it appears to be a more natural fit.

Happy Punch tweeted a video of the reigning light heavyweight champion weighing in at 230 pounds, which is a little over 25 pounds more than his official 204.5-pound weight for UFC 303.

Fans took to the comments section and reacted by mentioning that Pereira's weight management is incredible, while others used it as an example for why fighters should compete at their natural weight. They wrote:

"This is incredible"
"Fighters should be forced to fight at their real weights"
"Nah Alex should fight in heavyweight"

Could Alex Pereira compete at heavyweight?

Alex Pereira's weight cut and rehydration prove for his bout against Jiri Prochazka that he could compete at heavyweight should he decide to commit to that in the future.

The heavyweight limit is 265 pounds, however, there have been several fighters that have competed within the 235-250-pound range. With that in mind, Pereira wouldn't have to cut any weight at all if he moved up to heavyweight as 235-pounds is his natural weight.

It would be interesting to see how 'Poatan' would perform without having to cut weight as he would have more energy and could focus more time on perfecting his game plan rather than his hydration.

What is the secret to Alex Pereira's wins?
