Jarred Brooks is ONE's newly-crowned strawweight champ after his stellar performance against former long-time titleholder Joshua Pacio. However, 'The Monkey God' knows that their paths will cross again in the near future.
The 29-year-old extended his unbeaten streak inside the circle to four with his unanimous decision win over Pacio at ONE Championship 164. Brooks now owns victories over three of the division's top-five contenders.
After the bout, Brooks talked about a probable rematch with Pacio in his post-fight presser:
"This isn’t the end with Joshua Pacio. We were just talking about it too. So, I would love to give him another chance in Denver in the United States. He can come to my home turf and we can see where it goes from there."

Jarred Brooks says he's just scratching the surface of his potential
If Brooks is correct about him just scratching the surface of his potential, fellow strawweights should be worried. Here's what the champ said in the presser about what he believes he's capable of:
“I told you guys, it’s like 30 percent. It’s like less than what I’m capable of. It’s like finding the confidence and the ring time. That’s huge to me. I just got to make sure that I keep on building my confidence, building my hands, and building my wrestling.”
'The Monkey God' added Pacio to his ONE hitlist, which includes Lito Adiwang, Hiroba Minowa, and Bokang Masunyane. The only fresh faces for Brooks within the division's top five are Gustavo Balart and Danial Williams.
Considering Pacio's extended reign as strawweight champion, it's difficult to disagree with the idea of him garnering an immediate rematch for the title. Could the rematch take place in the United States? Notably, the promotion is slated to debut in the U.S. in May 2023.
