The matchup between McGregor and Chandler was teased earlier this year when the pair served as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. Their rivalry promised fireworks, but McGregor later withdrew from the fight, citing a broken toe, leaving fans disappointed and Chandler in limbo.
Since then, Chandler has focused on staying active, facing Charles Oliveira in a tough bout, though he fell short. Meanwhile, McGregor has spent more time making headlines for controversies than for returning to the cage, further frustrating fans hoping to see the two finally settle their feud.
Ariel Helwani shares new take on potential Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul matchup
Rumors of a blockbuster fight between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul have sparked massive media attention. Both stars under the TKO Group Holdings banner via UFC and WWE, could create a spectacle, with the Ambani family's backing reportedly fueling the possibility.
However, veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani suggests Jake Paul might be a more compelling opponent for McGregor. On The Ariel Helwani Show, Helwani analyzed Jake's history of challenging McGregor and Dana White, asserting that a McGregor vs. Jake Paul bout could be a better draw:
"There is a very rich and very powerful and very influential family in India known as the Ambani family that wants to get involved in a mega event. Are they looking to make a promotion? Are they looking to start something? Are they looking to even do something akin to what Turki [Alalshikh] has done in Saudi Arabia? Not necessarily".
Helwani continued:
"They want to put on an event and they're thinking to themselves, 'Who are the biggest names? Who can make this into the biggest event?' And you can make a very strong case that you know the two names that would attract all the different sort of fan bases, if you will, would be Conor McGregor and Jake Paul."
