Second-ranked atomweight MMA contender Denice Zamboanga has been dreaming of reaching the pinnacle of MMA for a long time, and it won't be long until she has a chance to make that dream a reality. 'The Menace' meets No.4-ranked Alyona Rassohnya to determine the ONE interim atomweight MMA world champion in one of two five-round battles set for ONE Fight Night 27 this Friday, Jan. 10.
Zamboanga spoke to Nick Atkin during a pre-fight interview and explained why all the past delays and postponements have led to this golden opportunity inside Bangkok's legendary Lumpinee Stadium. She stated:
"I guess this is my moment."

Of course, claiming the provisional crown will also earn Denice Zamboanga a five-round duel alongside her former stablemate and divisional queen Stamp Fairtex.
The Thai megastar sat out for most of 2024 due to an injury she picked up deep into fight camp for her title defense against Zamboanga at ONE 167.
In the same interview with Atkin, she said there's no better way to prep herself for arguably the toughest fight of her career against Stamp than beating a world-class talent like Rassohyna.
She continued:
"Also, this is also my preparation for the champion."

Denice Zamboanga says it'll be strictly business against Stamp
If she emerges victorious with 26 pounds of gold around her waist at ONE Fight Night 27, Denice Zamboanga will finally get the chance to share the global stage with her close pal Stamp Fairtex.
And while their friendship remains as tight as ever, 'The Menace' maintains that she'll have no issue putting their bond aside in a world title unification contest.
In the same interview, she continued:
"You know, friendship and business are different. When I step into the circle, I do whatever it takes to become a champion."
