In an interview with ONE Championship, 'Wonder Boy' said:
“This became something very important to me. This is a fight that the fans are really excited about, and I feel like all eyes are on me right now. I believe this is my moment to deliver a great show. This is the fight that everyone who doesn't know me will come to know me.”
Andrade is on an incredible run of form inside the circle, having defeated every opponent handed to him in highlight-reel fashion.
‘Wonder Boy’ submitted Mark Abelardo in the second round of his ONE debut fight at ONE: No Surrender in July 2020. Andrade then followed it up with a dominant unanimous decision win against Shoko Sato in February 2021.
While he was impressive in his first two matches, it didn’t exactly reflect just how formidable Andrade is.
The young Brazilian star is now on a streak of three straight first-round knockouts having felled Li Kai Wen, Jeremy Pacatiw, and Kwon Won Il.
Fabricio Andrade has always wanted to face John Lineker
Fabricio Andrade always thought that John Lineker was going to be the person he needed to beat to elevate his status in the sport.
With or without a world title on the line, Lineker was the man Andrade put in the middle of his crosshairs during his unstoppable march through the bantamweight division.
Lineker is a fearsome puncher, and the man known as ‘Hands of Stone’ is also on a streak of three straight knockout wins. The bantamweight king knocked out Kevin Belingon, Troy Worthen, and ultimately Bibiano Fernandes to capture the ONE bantamweight world title at ONE: Lights Out this past March.
During the ONE on Prime Video 3 virtual press conference, Fabricio Andrade said:
“I’m more than ready. We all know that I am the guy who has been calling for this fight for a long time, even before he was a champion. I want this fight, it’s a fight I want. It doesn’t matter if it's for a title or not, I’ve always wanted to beat him, and now it’s happening. So I’m more than ready and more than excited to fight him."
