Inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion Jackie Buntan still could not believe she claimed her first ONE world championship by defeating French-Algerian striking legend Anissa Meksen at ONE 169 on Nov. 8.
Buntan appeared as a guest on the DeWar Report by Val de War, where she said:
"A little bit, you know, I kept saying ever since I literally got the belt when they announced it. I was like, this hasn't been processed. I've been saying that for a whole week, and I feel like it still kind of hasn't been processed, only just because I don't know, I'm still going about the same routine in life. I think as the days go by, I'll start processing and sinking in."

Buntan's fight with 'C18' was the second time she fought for an inaugural ONE world championship. Her first opportunity happened at ONE 156 in April 2022, when she crossed paths with Swedish phenom Smilla Sundell over the inaugural ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world championship.
Losing to 'The Hurricane' propelled the Boxing Works standout to win her next three fights. She subsequently delivered one of the best performances of her young career against Meksen.
Jackie Buntan grateful for Janet Todd's guidance
Jackie Buntan does not believe she would be the fighter she is today if not for the tutelage of former ONE atomweight kickboxing and interim atomweight Muay Thai queen Janet Todd.
The Filipino-American striker said during an appearance on The Casuals:
"I feel like we have a very similar style, but different in competition. I feel like, but we've been training for a long time. I started training with Janet when I was maybe, like, 14, so like, way, way, way back. She's still my inspiration to this day. She's the hardest worker I know."
