Joshua Pacio knows that it’s his responsibility as a world champion to watch over the crucial matches in his division. One such fight is the potential barnburner between knockout artists Jeremy Miado and Danial Williams.
Miado and Williams will feature in a division-shaking match on the lead card of ONE on Prime Video 3 this Friday at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. Pacio, the longest-reigning ONE strawweight world champion, said in an interview with ONE Championship that the fight between Miado and Williams will be a striking spectacle.
The Filipino superstar, however, believes that Miado can take the technical knockout win if he executes a perfect ground-and-pound game. Joshua Pacio:

“I think this will be an incredible match if it stays on the feet. However, since it’s an MMA match, I’m picking Jeremy Miado in that fight. I think ‘Mini-T’ will put pressure on him, and if it’s a purely striking battle, I think Miado can go toe-to-toe with him... I think this ends on the ground, with a TKO victory for Jeremy Miado.”
Both Miado and Williams are enjoying fine runs of form inside the circle. Williams, the No.5 strawweight contender, is undefeated in all three of his mixed martial arts bouts in ONE Championship going 3-0 which include two knockout wins over Thai legend Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Zelang Zhaxi.
Miado, meanwhile, is on a streak of three straight knockout finishes that includes two wins over Miao Li Tao and one against Lito Adiwang.
Joshua Pacio puzzled by Jarred Brooks’ relative silence
While Joshua Pacio is excited about the Williams-Miado matchup, he’s also gearing up for his world title defense against No.1 contender Jarred Brooks.
Pacio and Brooks are yet to touch gloves, but the buildup to their world title fight at ONE 164 in December has been pure entertainment, to say the least.
Brooks has played the heel part so successfully that Pacio would oftentimes just allow the American grappler to do all the talking.
There is, however, a small change in Brooks’ behavior as Pacio observed. ‘The Monkey God’ turned relatively quiet a couple of months before the world title fight on December 3 at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Joshua Pacio, in an interview with The MMA Super-Fan said:
“I’m feeling good. I’m feeling excited. There are about two months left, and after three years, we’re going to enter the Mall of Asia Arena. Jarred Brooks, the trash-talking stopped, I don’t know why. But I’m very excited [about] the press conference. I think he’s going to bring his words. I’m just excited for the Filipino crowd.”
