Denice Zamboanga thinks Alyona Rassohyna's lack of activity will play a big role in their highly anticipated title tilt. Emanating from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Jan. 10, Zamboanga will square off with Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 to crown an interim ONE atomweight MMA world champion.
It will be a first-ever meeting between the two MMA standouts. It'll be Rassohyna's first fight in more than three years — a fact that Zamboanga believes will undoubtedly play in her favor.
"I also feel that her being inactive over the past few years while I have been fighting," Zamboanga told The MMA Superfan while discussing the advantages she'll have come fight night. "Those are the advantages that I think I’ll carry."

The last time Rassohyna competed was in 2021 when she split back-to-back bouts against the current undisputed atomweight MMA queen, Stamp Fairtex.
If she can pull off the upset, Rassohyna will set the stage for a trilogy bout with the Thai fan favorite. Of course, that's much easier said than done as she's set to face Zamboanga — a fighter who has looked damn near perfect in her last three outings.
Denice Zamboanga on the hunt for her fourth straight win at ONE Fight Night 27
Denice Zamboanga has been one of the most consistent performers in the atomweight division since making her promotional debut in 2019.
Along the way, she's earned wins over Jihin Radzuan, Mei Yamaguchi, and Watsapinya Kaewkhong. Currently, 'The Menace' is on a three-fight win streak, scoring victories against Lin Heqin, Julie Mezabarba, and Noelle Grandjean.
Originally, Zamboanga was set to square off with Stamp for the atomweight MMA world title at ONE 167. Sadly, the fight never came to fruition after Stamp suffered a torn meniscus weeks away from the event. Instead, Zamboanga went on to earn a dominant victory against Grandjean.
If she can make it four in a row, 'The Menace' will be guaranteed a clash with Stamp once the three-sport superstar is cleared for a return in 2025.
Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE Fight Night 27 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Jan. 10 in U.S. primetime.
