"To each their own" - Fans react to disgraced ex-UFC fighter who bit opponent returning at Okatgon MMA wearing Hannibal Lecter mask

Igor Severino made UFC history for all the wrong reasons as he became the first fighter in promotional history to lose a bout via disqualification for biting his opponent. The incident took place in the second round of his UFC on ESPN 53 clash with Andre Lima as both fighters made their promotional debut.

While 'Mascote' received the first-ever Bite of the Night bonus, Severino suffered the first loss of his career and was subsequently released from the UFC. The once-promising flyweight prospect made his return to action this weekend as he defeated Jonas Mågård via split decision at OKTAGON 65.

He once again made headlines as he made his walk to the cage wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask to reference the incident. Home of Fight shared a photo of Severino in the mask, captioning the post:

"😅 Former UFC fighter Igor Severino will be wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask during his walkout tonight after he was cut from the UFC after biting his opponent in March. The bite led to a DQ loss, which was the first time a bite cancelled a fight in UFC history. (via @IgorseverinoUfc )"

UFC cutman shared reaction to the biting incident

Brad Tate has gained plenty of popularity due to his time as a UFC cutman. He took to Instagram following the biting incident involving Igor Severino to share a clip of himself wrapping the flyweight prospect's hands ahead of his promotional debut, captioning the post:

Severino was undefeated with an 8-0 record entering the bout against Lima, with four of his victories coming via knockout and four via submission. He earned a UFC contract with a second-round TKO victory on Dana White's Contender Series in Sept. 2023.
