Tommy Fury was not impressed with Jake Paul's punching power and claimed the knockdown in Round 8 was nothing more than a slip. 'TNT' handed the YouTuber-turned-boxer his first loss in the squared circle and won the contest via split decision this past Sunday in Saudi Arabia.

In a post-fight interview with Fight Hub TV, Fury stated that he was not bothered by Paul's punching power and was rather underwhelmed by his opponent's strength:

"It wasn't... I've been around this job my whole life... I've been in the ring sparring some real punchers. His power wasn't anything that was worrying me at all. I wasn't really that bothered. He's a good strong lad but he's not the hardest hitter I've ever fought."

Although it looked like Tommy Fury was in control heading into the decision, Jake Paul almost pulled off a comeback when he knocked 'TNT' down in the eighth round. However, the 23-year-old Brit insists that he only slipped and did not lose control of himself due to the punch thrown by Paul:

"That was genuinely a slip. There was no excuses from my part, if I got knocked down, I'll say I got knocked down... That was no knockdown... But it is what it is."

Tommy Fury vs. Jake Paul: 'The Problem Child' blames illness and injured arm for loss

Tommy Fury took away Jake Paul's undefeated tag when he got his hand raised in Riyadh on Sunday after edging out a split-decision victory. The two pugilists went back and forth in a competitive contest, with Paul dropping Fury in the last round. However, two of the three judges scored in favor of the 23-year-old Brit.

In the aftermath of his loss, 'The Problem Child' admitted that he was not feeling a hundred percent during the fight and stated that he was suffering from illnesses and injuries during his training camp. In his post-fight interview, Paul outlined some health issues that negatively affected his performance against Tommy Fury:

"Honestly, I felt flat, I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm. So, it wasn’t my best performance. But I lost. I’m not making excuses. I’m just saying, it was not my best performance. I felt a little flat."

Despite his loss, Jake Paul remains committed to rematching Tommy Fury in the near future and will most likely execute the rematch clause in their contract. With the loss to Fury, the 26-year-old American now holds a record of 6-1.
