Tony Ferguson has taken aim at Khabib Nurmagomedov with a video game-themed clip from the legendary 'Street Fighter' franchise. It marks another fiery jibe by 'El Cucuy' against Nurmagomedov in their recently reignited rivalry.

The two fighters were considered the best MMA lightweights back in their athletic prime and were scheduled to face each other in the UFC on five separate occasions. Oft-cited as a dream matchup for many fans, Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson fell apart each time, due to injuries, weight-cut mishaps, etc.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's father and longtime mentor, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, passed away in July 2020. Khabib competed one last time thereafter, in October 2020. He retired from MMA, citing that his mother didn't want him to continue competing without his father by his side.

Meanwhile, ex-interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson had his iconic 12-fight win streak snapped in May 2020 and is currently on an eight-fight losing streak.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's rivalries against Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor haven't ended despite the Dagestani's MMA retirement. Nurmagomedov recently seemed to jibe at McGregor and his country, asserting that the level of MMA in Dagestan was far superior to that in Ireland. Ferguson chimed in on the debate, labeling Nurmagomedov a 'coward' and a 'bit*h.'

Taking to X, Ferguson has now put forth a video edit, seemingly from the Japanese action/combat media franchise 'Street Fighter.' He likened himself to the character 'Ryu,' whereas Nurmagomedov was the opponent.

Nurmagomedov's critics have often insinuated that the latter retired prematurely. Alluding to it, Ferguson's caption in the video game-themed edit read:

"You must try to beat Tony Ferguson before you could retire ... Press Start to continue ducking."

Ferguson referenced Nurmagomedov's supposed Tiramisu-induced weight-cutting issues, further implying that the Dagestani keeps ducking him. 'El Cucuy' wrote:

""Bet'cha Ol' Fathead's Favorite Animal Is A Duck or Two ,.. Quaaack!!!" # WhatAMallard *mack* In Liu of Tiramisu Tuesday, This Masterpiece *Fwah-Nah-Nahhhhh* Make Sure Ewe Let' Ol' Khabieber Know What Day It Is Crew - Champ - CSO - US MX - TiramisuTuesday4L"

Tony Ferguson's reaction to iconic image reimagined with himself and Khabib Nurmagomedov

In recent years, Khabib Nurmagomedov has worked as a coach to help his friends and relatives in their training camps. Meanwhile, speculation has abounded that Tony Ferguson's losing streak could result in him possibly being cut from the UFC.

Incidentally, amid Ferguson's recent jibes at 'The Eagle,' the latter's manager Ali Abdelaziz retorted and advised him to instead fight Khabib's cousin, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, in the GFL.

Moreover, photographer Annie Leibovitz clicked the iconic 'chess' image of football (soccer) legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for a Louis Vuitton campaign in 2022. The image has been widely used in the sports and broader pop culture realms since.

Unreal Engine artist Feoktist Alekseev recently reimagined the image and created an edited version featuring Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. 'El Cucuy' took to the comments section of the post, which was featured on ESPN's Instagram handle too. Commenting about the image in which they're shown playing chess on a checkered Louis Vuitton bag, he wrote:

"It's Chess,.. Not Checkers Mate"- Champ -CSO- US MX #"
