Pro boxers were divided over the outcome of the recent Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol fight. The pair competed for the undisputed light heavyweight title in Riyadh on Oct. 12 and Beterbiev emerged victorious by majority decision (114-114, 115-113, 116-112). However, it was a back-and-forth battle and many felt that Bivol had done enough to get the judges' nod.

Meanwhile, other professional boxers defended the outcome of the fight. They argued that it was a close battle where the decision could have gone either way but Beterbiev was the rightful victor:

Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority, said in an interview with The Stomping Ground:
"It [was] one of the greatest fights I have ever seen in the last 20 years, at least. I don't think the result is fair, in my opinion. The two fighters are like my brothers, but I think Bivol won two rounds more. I don't know why the result [is] like this, but in my opinion, I will focus and I will try to do the rematch. They deserve it, they deserve it. If they accept, we will do it."

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn also defended Bivol and opined that he deserved to leave the arena as the undisputed champion. Meanwhile, Top Rank's Carl Moretti defended the scorecards, saying:
"It's okay to have close fights either way. But it wasn't a robbery. I think it was a close fight. Someone gave it 7-5 the other way, maybe. But Bivol hasn't been here yet and he fought great. Look at Artur's face and then look at Bivol's face when he walks into the room. And even though his gloves were high, something was hitting him. It wasn't a ghost. So, we'll go from there."
