Controversial social media influencer Tristan Tate has tweeted out in support of Gukesh Dommaraju, who was crowned 2024's World Chess Champion to little fanfare.
Tate took to X to congratulate the 18-year-old Indian phenom, who has few followers on social media relative to other public figures in his age group.
While congratulating Dommaraju, Tate also criticized current social cultural trends for favoring content creators who take part in relatively unimportant challenges on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, like hot sauce challenges.
"For all of the things young men are applauded for in 2024, what Gukesh has done supersedes this by hundreds of times and he deserves more recognition. 100k followers? The world chess champion should be 1m+ at least. Kids who drink bottles of hot sauce 2x him and that is sad."

The former kickboxer often shares his thoughts on social media, particularly X, which has implemented looser moderation methods ever since Elon Musk's acquisition of the platform. This time, his tweet is likely to draw little negative reception, as Dommaraju is a generational talent in chess.
Not only is he the youngest chess player to surpass a FIDE rating of 2750, he is also the youngest-ever World Chess Champion in the game.
Tristan Tate previously congratulated MrBeast on his fitness journey
Back in mid-2023, popular YouTuber and content creator MrBeast shared a shirtless selfie of himself, revealing a trimmed physique with a level of muscularity that he previously did not have. It was attached to a second picture of himself showing his prior physique, drawing praise from Tristan Tate.
"This is awesome keep it up young man."
Unfortunately, Tate's older brother, with whom he is currently facing charges of sexual assault, human trafficking, and more, has not been as kind to MrBeast in his assessment, once accusing the latter of rigging a social media contest.
