Filipino flyweight fighter Danny Kingad has no plans of getting out of the MMA lane but said he is open to competing in mixed-rules matches in ONE Championship if the opportunity presents itself as a different challenge.
'The King' shared this in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA ahead of his scheduled return to action next month while asserting that he is not too keen on making a foray into striking-only matches.
The Lions Nation MMA affiliate said:
"No, I still want to focus on MMA. I'm just open to competing in mixed rules to try something new as a different challenge. It's going to be difficult to compte against the best strikers in the world if I fight to their rules exclusively."

Under mixed-rules matches, fighters engage in multi-discipline matches incorporated in one bout.
Meanwhile, Danny Kingad returns to action on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug', taking on former ONE flyweight MMA world champion Adriano Moraes in a rematch. The showdown is part of the event happening at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and airing live and for free to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Entering ONE 169, Kingad is coming off a defeat by decision at the hands of Japanese Yuya Wakamatsu back in January.
Danny Kingad laser-focused on getting the world title
Danny Kingad said that at this stage of his career, he is going after the world title with dogged determination. He looks to pad his push when he takes on former ONE flyweight MMA world champion Adriano Moraes at ONE 169 on Nov. 8 in Thailand.
Currently the No. 3 contender in the flyweight division, Kingad said that while his journey has been bumpy of late, it has only served to motivate him further to realize his world title goals.
He said by way of the Manila Standard:
"There's no frustration, but I'm being more diligent now in reviewing how my fellow contenders are fighting and studying their tapes more. Instead of feeling frustrated, it motivates me knowing that I have to get through the hump to get to the world title. I really want to get that world title."
Kingad's clash at ONE 169 against Moraes is a rematch of their first encounter in November 2017, where he lost by submission. Both fighters are looking to get the win in their redo to earn at shot at the currently vacant ONE flyweight world title.
