Five months after coming out of retirement to fight Jonathan Martinez at UFC 301, Jose Aldo will return to the octagon in October against Mario Bautista. The fight is confirmed as a part of UFC 307 in the promotion's return to Salt Lake City.
After the win over Martinez, Aldo re-entered the UFC bantamweight rankings at No. 8 and will face No. 12-ranked Bautista. AG Fight first reported the matchup with multiple sources since confirming it.
The general reaction to the news was positive with most fans being excited for the return of Aldo, but some were not enthused by the matchup, expecting better name value for the former champion. Others were also not pleased by the UFC booking Aldo in another fight in altitude given his last loss to Merab Dvalishvili was in elevation.

Jose Aldo vs. Mario Bautista preview
After losing to Merab Dvalishvili, Jose Aldo retired in 2022 to pursue a career in boxing but returned to the UFC less than two years later.
In his return fight, Aldo faced rising contender Jonathan Martinez in his home country and put on a vintage performance to win by unanimous decision.
In his second fight back, Aldo will face a similar opponent to Martinez in Mario Bautista. Like 'The Dragon,' Bautista is a younger fighter on the best streak of his career entering the matchup, last beating Ricky Simón to break into the divisional rankings.
