“Two of the best in this era” - Johan Ghazali certain Superlek-Jonathan Haggerty will be downright epic

Teen phenom Johan Ghazali expects Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek to deliver an absolutely banger when the two headline ONE Championship's highly anticipated return to the United States.

Emanating from Ball Arena in The Mile High City on Friday, September 6, two-sport king Haggerty will put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line when he meets 'The Kicking Machine' in the ONE 168: Denver main event.

Ghazali, who will be competing a little earlier on the card, expects to see the two Muay Thai icons put on a potential Fight of the Year contender.

"Superlek and Jonathan [Haggerty] deserve this moment," Ghazali told ONE Championship. "I can’t tell you much about the first fight, to be honest, but look at how they are now, you know? Both of them are at their peak. They’re really in good form. So I expect this to be a really good fight between two of the best in this era."

While Haggerty goes into his second bantamweight Muay Thai title defense riding a six-fight win streak, Superlek has never been beaten in the art of eight limbs under the ONE banner.

Johan Ghazali joins Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek on loaded ONE 168: Denver card

Hours before Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek close the show, Johan Ghazali will help get things started when he meets Mexican slugger Josue Cruz.

Breaking onto the scene in 2023, 'Jojo' earned five straight wins, four of them coming by way of knockout. However, Ghazali suffered his first setback at ONE 167, coming up short on the scorecards against Vietnamese standout Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.

Looking at it as a learning experience, Ghazali is confident that he'll bounce back and look better than ever when he faces Cruz at ONE 168: Denver. Ghazali said in an interview with Borneo Post Online:

"In my previous six fights, I had five wins (four TKOs) and one defeat. I am pretty confident in my next fight as I have been training very hard for the past few months, and I am ready for it."
