Two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty doesn’t mind having a target on his back: “I’ve got what they want”

Two-sport ONE world champion Jonathan Haggerty isn't worried about top contenders calling him out for both of his world titles. In April 2023, Haggerty knocked out Nong-O in round one to become the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.

Seven months later, 'The General' secured a second-round knockout against Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing strap, solidifying himself at the top of two disciplines on the global stage.

Of course, Haggerty's recent success has made him a target in two divisions. That said, the British striking superstar isn't worried about the added attention, as he had this to say during a mini-documentary posted on his YouTube channel:

"I feel like people are trying to trash talk to get the fight, build up a fight, getting me to speak down. And that's how I feel. But at the end of the day, I get it, I've got what they want. And I go home, I sit back, and I look at the two ONE Championship belts."

Haggerty continued:

"So I just let them talk as much as they want to talk. So at the end of the day, it's all about when we get in there and what happens."

Nico Carrillo is keeping a close eye on Jonathan Haggerty vs. Superlek

On September 6, Jonathan Haggerty looks for his second Muay Thai title defense after knocking out Felipe Lobo in February. Haggerty's latest opponent is arguably the toughest of his career, as he's scheduled to face ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek in the ONE 168: Denver main event.

Top-ranked Nico Carrillo is expected to face the winner of Haggerty vs Superlek. The Scottish bantamweight holds a promotional Muay Thai record of 4-0, all by knockout, including a second-round finish against Saemapetch Fairtex in July.

Carrillo has established a heated rivalry with Haggerty, so it'll be intriguing to see if the matchup materializes later this year. Firstly, 'The General' can't look past Superlak, as the latter is coming off wins against Rodtang Jitmuangnon (Muay Thai), Takeru Segawa (kickboxing), and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai (Muay Thai).
