Tye Ruotolo earned an impressive submission victory over former ONE world titleholder Marat Gafurov at ONE on Prime Video 5. For his outstanding work on the mat, he was awarded a $50,000 performance bonus.
Tye Ruotolo explained that this money will be going towards building the Ruotolo brother's dream gym in Costa Rica, which Tye and Kade are constructing from the ground up.
Tye explained:
"Ooh, that's going towards the gym. We're building our dream gym in Costa Rica. I guess I've contributed a hundred to [Kade's] fifty. So he's got to step it up."

In 2022, Tye has earned two performance bonuses in ONE Championship. One came earlier this year for his submission win over Garry Tonon, with the second arriving at ONE on Prime Video 5. His brother, Kade, has earned only one performance bonus thus far in ONE.
The 19-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu stars have said that all of this money will be going towards building their submission grappling gym in Costa Rica. When Kade captured the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship in October and earned a $50,000 performance bonus, he said:
"We’re building a gym out in Costa Rica right now, and we’re kind of putting everything we’ve got into it and that literally just finished it. I’m at a loss for words, thank you so much Chatri and everyone behind ONE. I’m so stoked, I’m so stoked, beyond thankful."

Kade and Tye Ruotolo's new gym
Costa Rica has acted as a second home for the Ruotolo brothers, which is why they are building their dream gym in the Central American nation.
In an interview earlier this year with the Jiu Jitsu Times, Kade explained their vision:
“It won’t be the type of gym where we’re doing classes every day, it’ll be kind of a ‘head’ training spot for us – so that when we’re out there, we can keep training, and can also run jiu-jitsu camps."
It sounds as though the gym will act as a place that grapplers and fighters can use as a week away, whilst also training. He continued:
"The goal would be to bring people out for a week, teach them how to surf, and offer privates throughout the week, along with other activities.”
Kade and Tye Ruotolo have even shown images of the gym in construction on Instagram. The grappling brothers shared:
