Throughout their runs in ONE Championship, Tye Ruotolo and his brother Kade have shown a clear interest in striking and developing their skills.
With a potential MMA transition coming at some point in the future, both men have spoken about putting the time in at the gym to work on this skillset. For the time being, however, they’re still focused on dominating in submission grappling and that’s exactly what they have done since signing with ONE Championship.
Though both brothers have produced impressive performances and win streaks inside the circle, Kade currently holds one edge over his brother. The ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion will have to make the most of his bragging rights though as in just a few weeks' time, Tye gets his shot at joining him.
At ONE Fight Night 16, he will face Magomed Abdulkadirov for the inaugural ONE welterweight submission grappling world championship. In the build-up to his huge title contest that broadcasts live in U.S. primetime on Friday, November 3, Tye provided an update on some of the striking training that he has been doing on the side.

When it comes to being a striking fan and wanting to improve your own skills, it simply doesn’t get much better than the two men that the elite grappler managed to work alongside.
During an interview with The MMA Superfan, Tye Ruotolo reflected on his experience working with the legendary Trainer Gae and the former pound-for-pound number one in kickboxing, Superbon Singha Mawynn:
“Man, it was so sick. You know, I was always a fan of Superbon watching him. So to get over and train with him and Trainer Gae too, man…I never experienced something like that.”
