After months of back-and-forth between their teams online, Oleksandr Usyk famously agreed to Tyson Fury’s 70/30 purse split demands for their fight.
Fury has been off social media since December 2022, with his team handling his official Instagram handle. However, ‘The Gypsy King’ hopped back on his social media platforms to make the fight happen and has now claimed that it has been confirmed for April 29 at Wembley Stadium.
The WBC Heavyweight Champion posted a video to confirm the date, saying:
“Hi guys, as fun as it’s been over the last few terrorising Usyk and his team, tomorrow I’m going to knuckle down into training camp and I’ll be doing a blackout like I always do on social media. April 29th is definitely a worker, I’ll see you all on the night, tune in."

Eddie Hearn reacts to 70/30 purse split for Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom boxing chief and career-long promoter of Anthony Joshua, gave his take on the online feud between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in the lead-up to their heavyweight unification bout.
When asked about the fight and the alleged 70/30 purse split that has been agreed in favor of Fury, Hearn had this to say:
“Yeah, I mean look, it’s six weeks to go or seven weeks to go for the fight Tyson Fury said he started camp today, Usyk’s called his bluff, who knows? Tyson’s gonna take money he never imagined taking for that fight because it’s gonna be at Wembley, great, I really hope it happens, we’ll see."

The heavyweight title fight negotiations stalled for weeks on end following a disagreement about the purse split. Fury felt like he deserved a significant portion of the pay because the fight would be taking place at Wembley Stadium in the UK on English soil, where he is a major draw.
Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF and The Ring magazine titles, arguably deserves a fair split. However, after Fury posted a video saying that the split would be 70/30 in his favor in a ‘take it or leave it’ offer, Usyk shocked the boxing community and accepted.
