Earlier this week, UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski revealed that he would be serving as a backup fighter for the UFC 280 headliner.
This means that the Australian would step in as replacement if either Islam Makhachev or Charles Oliveira withdraw from the lightweight title fight. Let's take a look at how these three men compare in terms of their physical attributes.
Alexander Volkanovski stands at 5 feet 6 inches and usually weighs in at 145 lbs. However, as the official lightweight limit is 155 lbs, 'The Great' will be a bit heavier this time around. 'Volk' has a reach of 71 inches. His pro-MMA record currently stands at an impressive 25-1.

Alexander Volkanovski talks about Beneil Dariush's UFC 280 back up claims
In a recent interview with Sirius XM, Beneil Dariush said that he was confused with Alexander Volkanovski's claim to be the back-up fighter for the UFC 280 main event. Dariush revealed that the UFC had informed him that he would serve as the replacement fighter.
However, in a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Volkanovksi explained that the American was clearly mistaken:
“If he’s watching, I’m not playing any games... Maybe they did tell you you could be very early, whether this was a couple of months ago, whether his manager had that conversation saying that you will be [the backup fighter], and he just assumed he was and hasn’t looked into it since, I don’t know. But my corners are being flown up, we've already got our flights... I’m getting paid for this, all that type of stuff. So, It’s locked in.”

Beneil Dariush is scheduled to face the No. 9- ranked lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 280.
