UFC 280 betting odds: Islam Makhachev or Charles Oliveira - Who's favorite to become the new lightweight champion?

UFC 280 is less than a day away. The most awaited card of the year promises to deliver with two title fights and a stacked undercard. Ahead of this highly awaited card, fans are looking to get their bets in and make a tidy profit on their favorite fighters.

The main event of UFC 280 features a fight for the vacant lightweight title between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev.

Islam Makhachev is the current -180 betting favorite and Charles Oliveira is the +150 underdog. Oddsmakers did not choose 'do Bronx' as the favorite in his fights against Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson, and he was a narrow favorite against Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. Despite being on a 11-fight win streak and having the most submissions in UFC history, he is not the betting favorite.

Islam Makhachev, on the other hand, is on a 10-fight winning streak, and Khabib Nurmagomedov's protege has been the favorite in most of his recent fights. He is as well as his upcoming title fight at UFC 280 against 'do Bronx'. The Brazilian has proven the oddsmakers wrong multiple times, and will look to do it again on October 22 so he can reclaim his lightweight title.

Charles Oliveira lost his title in his previous match where he weighed in at half a pound overweight and lost his title on the scale. This time around, he weighed in at 154.5lbs, which is .5 lbs less than the lightweight limit. Makhachev also weighed in at 154.5.

According to Oliveira, he will knock the Russian out in the very first round in front of a hostile crowd in Abu Dhabi. 'Do Bronx' got booed during the weigh-ins and open workouts, so it is clear to see whom the fans in Abu Dhabi seem to support.
